Can someone whip up a good source of inspiration for writing or drawing?

Simple spriting I'll do with MS Paint, like changing eye color and such.

I'll use GIMP 2.6 for the recolors.

Now, what's Paint.net? Same as MS Paint?

I've never used Paint.Net before or Gimp. O_o A lot of people seem to use it for spriting, though. But I usually just use Photoshop. I like being able to use the brush tool and the pencil tool. And... layers? Wait, do Paint.Net and Gimp use the layering system?

Edit: @Cray: Nope. (I think?) Paint.Net is more advanced. Screenie

yep, a rudimentary one.

At least Gimp 2 does (my program of choice due to the fact that I don't have photoshop). I actually really like all the new things they added for Gimp 2.

Really? I was looking at screenies and it looks just like photoshop. =O Then again, the screenshots I was looking at didn't show the modes and stuff. They could've hidden the sore spots as a marketing tactic, lol.

Although... Gimp 2 looks kinda... chunky, if you know what I mean. I thought they had newer versions out? Or is this one just easier to use?

Real Life experiences. Nice

EDIT: I just noticed. When I look to the left, there are two buttons: View User Profile, and Send Private Message. Why is it that the PM button is labeled 'MP'? WTF

Personally, I use GIMP for basically all my graphics. But Paint.Net does look good.

By the way, I'm working on a game of my own. It's an adventure game, a bit like Avadan's Cartographer. I'm just wondering which tiles/style of mapping to go for, mack's or the edited version of the RTP?

@LB - It depends on your personal choice. So long as the style is consistent, I'm not really nitpicky on whatever style you choose. Though I admit I give bonus points to Mack tiles because they're not what you usually see in VX games.

Try out GraphicsGale for spriting. It's free. (without the GIF mods)

Hmm... thanks for clearing that up for me, Shadwblitz. It's just that I've been seeing more and more RM games with mack tiles recently, and I thought that maybe I should use them too. But I'll mix and match, maybe recolour a few bits and bobs so they don't clash.

Wow... that rhymes (kind of).

That program looks cool. =O All the buttons at the top look kinda confusing, though. But the onion skin, pixel grid, and playable animation feature sound like they would be very practical. It gets so tedious having to test every single pixel of a sprite in the 'Maker after awhile.

@Bagardo: Rofl, I know what you mean. Reminds me of Dr. Seuss. =)
